site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: pro-apps-dev@lists.apple.com Hi Frank - My thought was "the fonts are too unique - how can they stay in business". Think about watching 4 shows on 4 channels all 4 using the same livefont, would you think of it as a font or as an effect that one ripped off from the other at first? I'm all for entirely custom Livefonts. Especially if you hire me to make them, hehe. Seriously... Think about the fonts not as fonts but as a container for materials you repetitively need. Like logo fonts. I have more words on that here: http://www.frankjonen.com/typedesign/livefont/ Try it if you have a weekend, just a few glyphs, only hurts the first couple of times, then your brain has the proper bent. :) Cheers, Frank Well said! I agree with you completely. Somehow I just can't see the value in spending my time to be casting whatever might be my livefont idea into LiveFont-stone when I can pretty much do 'the livefont thing' with Apple's Motion - and font behaviors - and it'll come out differently - and probably more appropriate - every time. I do believe that LiveFonts ARE a huge leg-up for people who are not doing 'professional/network' projects - and don't have the expertise or time to roll their own. And, for the record, I think the LiveType/ LiveFonts combo is very well done, covers most all of the iconic bases and is certainly not without merit/value. This has been an interesting learning experience and I appreciate your taking the time to let me hear your thoughts. BTW - I went to a site called livetypecentral dot com and was really impressed with with their LiveType extensions - even bought their package#2 as it had so many obviously useful extensions usable in both LiveType AND Motion.
