Final Cut Pro plug-in development
site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: pro-apps-dev@lists.apple.com User-agent: Internet Messaging Program (IMP) 3.2.1 I'm back again, posting yet another question about FCP plug-in development. My previous questions have been perhaps too specific... allow me to pose some broader questions: The plug-in I want to write does not in any way filter or modify audio/video. I want to add an item to one of the Menus which will show my tabbed non-modal dialog (aka. 'palette') or modal dialog. Then, based on the user's selections in that dialog, I want to feed new input (a list of graphics, for example) into an FCP Project bin. Is there ANY way to do this? This I know: To write an FCP plug-in, you can write to the After Effects v 3.1 plug-in API. It's also been suggested that I try the QuickTime plug-in API, as well as the Fair enough. The major drawback is, this version of the API only supports filters/effects; the After Effect General plug-in architecture (AEGP) doesn't show up until a later version of the API. SO, there are absolutely no way to hook into other parts of the AE user interface (so there's no adding any menu items, no way to display a dialog, modal or no, integrated in the AE UI). This API does allow you to add controls to certain non-modal dialogs (like the Effect or Composition dialogs), but adding my plug-in's functionality there would not make any sense... Is there ANY way--perhaps via another plug-in API, or some set of hooks that are specific to FCP--to add an item to a menu which will then bring up a dialog (modal or non-modal)??? Hello, Apple?? Can you please give me a definitive answer on this? many thanks, BJR -- Beverly Reinig Manager of Development INform Skopje, Macedonia _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
