I have been asking for an updated API for well over a year now. I filed a series of bug reports about the existing AE 3.1 implementation and requested that a newer AE plug-in specification be adopted. Apple has not responded to my requests other than to tell me that they do not plan to work on the AE plug-in API in FCP and that there is no alternative interface. I have been told to write my plug-in for Motion instead....even though I have pointed out that my plug-in is for video editors and not motion graphics artists.
