I have been asking for an updated API for well over a year now. I filed a series of bug reports about the existing AE 3.1 implementation and requested that a newer AE plug-in specification be adopted. Apple has not responded to my requests other than to tell me that they do not plan to work on the AE plug-in API in FCP any more and that there is no alternative interface. I have been told to write my plug-in for Motion instead....even though I have pointed out that my plug-in is for video editors and not motion graphics artists. There has been some talk that the FCP team will be implementing the new FXPlug system that was added to Motion recently. However this system does not support video transitions yet and the FCP team has not announced that they are actually going to begin work on FXPlug. This email sent to site_archiver@lists.apple.com
