site_archiver@lists.apple.com Delivered-To: pro-apps-dev@lists.apple.com OK, I asked internally and was told this:
Here is how it works for applying “effects" to Multicam:
You can either apply them at the project level on each MC edit (which seems like developer is doing or talking about) or on each angle from within a Multicam clip.
Scenario 1:
Say you have a Multicam made of 4 angles in your timeline. Once you add an effect to it, that effect will remain on the Multicam angle you applied it to… let’s say it was Angle 1. Now when you go to edit (cut to another angle- 2, 3, or 4) you will see that the effect does not appear applied to angle 2, 3 or 4. But if you cut back to angle 1, you will see the effect is still applied.
Scenario 2:
If one wants to have an effect applied to all angles or just certain angles on a Multicam clip (and not have to really worry about it when editing), the best way is to go into the Multicam clip (you can double click on Multicam clip in organizer or from timeline by Clip -> Open in Angle Editor) and apply the effect to each/every angle. Using this method, and then cutting the Multicam clip in the timeline, the effects will remain (on whatever angle they have been applied) If they have already edited the Multicam clip in timeline, they can still use this method and the effect applied to each angle should be visible on each edit.
However, he notes:
Now I notice the developer has a stabilization plugin offered. If he is talking about this plugin, he may have issues because we do not support stabilization on the Multicam edits in a timeline, only at the angle level (from within the Angle Editor) so I can see perhaps how if he is applying it to the MC edit in the timeline, it works for just 1 edit and then the next time it does not work for the second edit of previously applied angle.

I’ll have to ask what the expected workflow is here, as I’m not entirely sure.

Hi,
I’m not an expert in multicam (or FCPX either), but I heard that it’s possible for a plugin to be applied to a multicam clip. From what they were saying, create a multicam clip, drop it on the timeline, drop the filter on the multicam clip and the plugin works on each clip.
When I tried this with my plugin it worked on the current angle only. If I cut the multicam clip, then I have to drop the plugin on each section. This is actually what I would expect to happen.
I don’t see anything in the FxPlug API that supports the action as described to me.
thanks in advance
