audio to Final Cut Pro

Hi,
Suppose I have isochronous video/audio packets coming in over firewire
from my device.
I want to pass the data to Final Cut Pro for capture (and out of Final
Cut Pro for playback).
How exactly can I get the audio to and from Final Cut Pro?
I have a Quicktime component which grabs the data off of firewire via a
firewire device interface, and separates
the audio from the video, frame by frame, along with the timecode.
So I have an idea of how to get the video to FCP.
But for the audio, do I need to write a kernel driver or can I use the
audio HAL to get the data to FCP?
And are there any synchronization issues I have to worry about with
regard to FCP displaying the audio/video,
or is this handled already?
Thanks a lot,
Tommy Schell
