Hi Andreas!
That new Apple Event gives you an array (in XML) of all the effects
Final Cut Pro knows about and can apply to clips on that machine, as
currently configured. It also lists out all the parameters and their
ranges on each installed effect.
So if you were writing a simple application that wanted to put a star
iris on a piece of media, and you wanted to make sure that there was a
star iris on that machine, or else use some other effect, this query
would enable that.
It is unfortunately slow the first time for a given launch since all
the templates and effects have to be loaded to get at the parameters
available. Subsequent usage of any effect will be much faster though
since they're all fleshed out.
Cheers,
Helena

Hi all,
Does somebody know what the new "kFCPGetAllEffectsXML" is good for.
Is it just a listing you should process with another parser?
Kind regards
Andreas
