Is there a reason you are creating your netboot image from
another machine than the Server, is the server an intel machine? My server is
an intel so I just created the netboot from server using DeployStudio
Assistant. Also in the past when I created a netboot image on another machine
than the server I had to create the image to the root of the hard drive and
could not use AFP to transfer image, I had to copy image from workstation via
target mode or via an external hard drive. That was a while ago and at that
time SMB actually reset some permissions in the image. That’s my two
cents worth.

Subject: [Rockies-Edu] DeployStudio Troubles
I was working with DeployStudio all last school year and
everything was great. For some reason, this school year I can't get
anything to work. I have un-installed and re-installed DeployStudio
Server "v1.0rc20 (stable)" and can't get it to work.
I'm running it off of a Mac OSX 10.5.8 Server. I
create the Netboot Set [using the DeployStudio Assistant] from an iMac 20"
running 10.5.8. When I move the Netbook set to the server and put it in
the /Library/NetBoot/NetBootSP0 folder, the NetBook file/image shows up under
NetInstall images within Server Admin under NetBoot. The NetBoot service
is turned on.
When I then try to NetBoot the client [holding down the
"N" key], I get the kernel error type message telling me to hold in
the power button for a long time and restart my computer.
