I would suspect it has something to do with the partitioning.

Subject: [Rockies-Edu] Server Install on iMac
Hi,
I'm trying to install a copy of SnowLeopard Server from scratch on a new iMac purchased in December. I am leaving the original installed system and created a new 750 GB partition on which to install the Server. The original system appears to run just fine--nothing particularly obvious is wrong. However, the server install has been a huge headache. The installation itself is excruciatingly slow--long delays between mouse moves and clicks, etc. Eventually, the system appears to install, but then it never actually boots up--I get to a black screen with a beachball (often not even spinning).
I feel like I'm forgetting something totally obvious here, but I'm not coming up with it.
Any ideas?
TG
