Greetings,
Today, Apple announced a new 21.5" iMac model just for education. This $999 iMac boasts the following:
- 3.1GHz dual-core Intel Core i3 with 3MB on-chip shared L3 cache
- 2GB of RAM, but it's on a single RAM stick. That allows you to easily (and less expensively) upgrade the RAM
- The MiniDisplay port on this iMac is only that…a display port. This iMac does not have Thunderbolt technology
- 250GB hard drive
- The keyboard and mouse are USB models, and the keyboard is the full-size version with the numeric keypad
- There is no bluetooth on this iMac model
The full specs are here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP634
For comparison purposes, the $1,149 model of the 21.5" iMac gets you the following additional features (among others):
- 4GB of RAM
- 1 Thunderbolt port
- 500GB hard drive
- Bluetooth keyboard/mouse
Finally, the previous iMac model for education is still available, while supplies last. Here are the specs:
- Price of $899
- 2GB of RAM (on 2 sticks)
- 160GB hard drive
If you have questions, feel free to ask this list or your Apple SE.
Thanks,
Corey
