Hi,
I can't get a remote X client to display on my mac
Here's what I've done... my machine is icu-21
start X11 X11 Beta 3 - XFree86 4.2.1
Allow remote connection is enabled in X11/Preferences
xhost + icu-0
xhost confirms that icu-0 is in the access control list
ssh to icu-0 and login (same thing with telnet...)
xeyes -display icu-21:0.0
*nothing* on icu-21 for about 3 minutes then:
Error: Can't open display: icu-21:0.0
As far as I can tell, each computer can find the other one
icu-0 can ping icu-21 and vice-versa, and ftp sessions work fine both
ways
using ip addresses doesn't help...
using fully qualified hostnames doesn't help!
I can start a <local> client on icu-21 with
xeyes -display icu-21:0.0
Firing up a windows box with cygwin and connecting to icu-0 works
fine... xeyes all over the place!
Same thing with a linux box
I have run out of things to check, and would be grateful for help
cheers
chris
