Hi,
Does the machine you ssh to support X forwarding over ssh?
This is what I normally do:
Start X and open a xterm
ssh -X blah.blah.com (or ssh -X -l yourname blah.blah.com)
Once logged in I just run the command as usual, ie "gaim &" and it
displays on my 10.3 laptop.
AFAIK there is no need to use xhosts if you are doing it over ssh.
Hope that helps :)

I am trying to display info from a Unix based machine on my Macintosh
running OS 10.2.
This is what I do:
1) I open an x11 terminal window on my Mac.
2) I then type: xhost +machine.Iwanttolookat.edu
3) I open another x11 terminal window on my Mac.
4) I then type: ssh -l myname machine.Iwanttolookat.edu
5) Once I am logged on, I type setenv DISPLAY 128.XXX.XX.XX:0.0
However this doesn't seem to work.
If, for example, I type: xterm &
I get an error stating that
% Error: Can't open display: 128.XXX.XX.XX 1:0.0
Is there something obvious I am missing?
Thanks,
Charles
