You need something like VNC or something to do that, but be advised, it is
slow.
For VNC, to minimize the security hole, I use it in conjunction with SSH.
So, it looks like this (assuming you have a VNC server running on the
remote machine, useing :1 as the screen)
From the client:
ssh -L 6789:localhost:5901 <IP of Remote Server> -l <username>
After I log in to the remote box, I then run vncviewer from my client and
use localhost:6789 as the port and bingo, I am viewing the server's
desktop over SSH.
Port fowarding is a great feature of SSH. :-)
