When I run emacs under X11 and try to read files that include the extra
characters in European-1 (characters needed for Icelandic) the special
characters don't display properly, even if the language environment is
set to European-1. It seems that I cannot access the iso-8859-1
character set. But I can't work out how to fix this.
Can anyone help?
I am running Jaguar, and X11 1.0
(When I run instead Enhanced Carbon Emacs I can get *some* of the
special characters, but still not all (in particular, not "y" with an
acute accent over it, or "eth")).
Can anyone help me with what to do (either for Carbon Emacs or X11) so
that I can read and write these files?
