this has been answered several times. Check the list archives for more
information.
In short, jaguar and panther have a "command line" version of emacs.
you will need to hunt down and install an X11 version.
again, search this list's archives.

Subject: emacs in a X11-window
Date: Sat, 14 Feb 2004 23:05:41 +0100
I have successfully established connection to a remote machine with:
ssh -X <username>@<remote-host>
When I run emacs or other programs on the remote machine I get a
beautiful X-window. There cannot be a problem with my X11. How do I
then start my own emacs in a X-window?
I have Emacs 21.2.1, which is installed with Jaguar. I can run it in
the terminal window or in the X11-terminal window but it refuses to
open in a new X11-window. The mouse doesnt work and the menus are
unreachable.
Help me!
