While you're debugging you could just add:
setenv ("DISPLAY=:0.0");

I am trying to run X11 applications from XCode but it is not working. I
think I read this somewhere, but damned if I can now find how to set
the DISPLAY variable for normal applications like XCode. Even if I put
the ugly hack of forcing DISPLAY to have a value in .profile or
something, that apparently only affects terminal.
I can launch XCode compiled X11 apps fine from an xterm.
Also BUG: launching X11 apps by double clicking in Finder does not work
if path to app has a space in a directory name. Thought you guys had
put quotes around everything by now! ;-)
