I found your description very confusing. I assume you mean XDMCP?
I've never used XDMCP, but it sounds pretty torturous to me. :-)
All I can gather is that the X client is running on the windows box, so
I assume you are sitting at the Panther console, with a remote
connection of some kind to the Windows box. You run the client on the
windows machine which tries to connect to your local display? Or...?
