I have only one disk. It must be a DVD distribution. Apparently, it
isn't the same as the boxed version for $129.
I will go ahead and have a look, especially since I can back out before
I do any damage.

X11 package is on Disk 3 of Panther. You can install it without really
affecting the Panther installation which is nominally on Disks 1 and
2. If you want to get involved with downloading and compiling linux
code from the web , you probably want to also install the tools found
on the 4th disk. These disks have packages that you may keep your eyes
open in the install dialogs for a customize button. You probably want
to install every thing instead of just the default.

I just got the G5 and want to install x11.
I can't find it on the Panther disc. Instructions on installation
said it is on the distribution cd and I need to do a "custom
install".
Ok, should I go ahead and "install os x" (scary!).
Would I be better off just downloading the package?
If anyone could post step by step instructions, I would be very
grateful.
I am a former Windows user (and very disgruntled about MS).
