This works fine for me. I just tried it with oclock and it started up
X11 and off it went. Could it be that you were trying to click on a
shell script or some other program that then later starts the x11 app.
In that case there is no way for finder to know that an x application
is starting, it can only look at the app that it is launching itself.
If it helps and if I recall correctly finder looks at the executable
and checks wether it is linked against one or more of the standard x
libraries to see if it is "an X11 application". So if "otool -L
/your/app" does not include a line like
/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.6.dylib (compatibility version 6.2.0, current
version 6.2.0)
my guess is that it will fail. I suspect it would not be able to
detect a statically linked executable but I have not tried it.
