My problem is I cannot type the '*' key in several apps. I am running
version 3.1.4 of kde under Panther's default X11 server (10.3.4). I
have tried several things like swith the "systems keyboard" preference
under X11 and mess around the keyboard layouts within the KDE controller
but there is no way I can type in the character.
It seems this only occurs in KDE apps using the Embedded Advanced Text
Editor. I can type '*' in the shell or in an edit control.
I can cut and paste the character.
When I try to type <shift 8>, the editor selects the character at the
curser.
I am a KDE novice.
Any ideas?
