Yes, it's still a problem. Here's the procedure:
1. Run xterm (remotely connected, under X11)
2. Display text containing a URL of interest in the xterm session
3. Select the URL (using the mouse)
4. Using the menu, select Edit->Copy
5. Command-Tab to Safari ... now take your time
(has the selection disappeared yet?)
6. Command-N to open a new Safari window
(yes, the selection has invariably gone by now)
7. Paste doesn't work: go back to step 3 and redo
It's rather odd: after being selected and copied the first time, the
selection seems to stay on the clipboard for only a second or so; if I
do
this a second time, generally it hangs around a little longer, long
enough
to be pasted.
I report this with problem ID 3478623 back in November: I see its
status
is now Closed/Duplicate.
This was marked as a duplicate of the bug that was fixed in 10.3.4. I
can't duplicate your steps.
Just to be sure, make sure you are not running any haxie or 3rd party
utility that might inject code into running processes. Just don't trust
any application that does that. Also you may want to try and to go back
to as clean as system as possible to see if the problem goes away.
Check if you have modified your .xinitrc and see if reverting back to
defaults helps.
Talking about X11 bug reports, what's the status of these ones?
They're
both marked as Open/Analyze:
3511264 X11 refuse all input if key pressed while changing focus.
This
was discussed on the board a few months ago and was successfully
reproduced.
Still on the list to analyze.
3511268 When a new window is created, dragging it causes all X11
windows
to be dragged.
Cannot reproduce.
