I am a long-time Unix and Mac user, so I don't know if I fit the

on an SGI before. I think that technical users like me would be happy
with a Motif version that runs on a Mac. I used to have two computers
in my office so I could do Unix and Mac work. Now I only have one
machine. I use a package called ENVI that is built on IDL that is
purely an X11 user interface, and it is a little less easy to use than
a Mac GUI program but it is a lot easier than going upstairs to use a
Sun workstation.
Speaking personally, I tend to see the X11 stuff as a stopgap. For a
technical app with an X11 interface, I'd use it and be happy to have
it. (See MATLAB, or NEURON.) But the instant a competitor came along
with a native interface, phwoop, I'd be gone. So I'd see it as more of
a competitive advantage than an essential requirement.
For non-technical apps, I agree with Eric. You'd be relegating
yourself to a "power-user" audience.

Would I be better off spending my time rewriting the GUI portion of my
application? I'd like the least-costly approach of course, but I'm
not very
familiar with generic Mac users.
