does that make any sense. Note I do not have graphics card in my
machine [and Apple says they cannot
sell me one.]
But I get no Windows manager on my foreign host. I trying to do a
remote login. Maybe I doing something I am not supposed.
But a similar emthod works on Linux smoothly.
I doubt you can run quartz-wm remotedly. Try using twm instead. That is
export DISPLAY=ejby:0.0
/usr/X11R6/bin/twm &
That will probably work, provided you already have X running on ejby,
and not already have a window manager connected. Notice that it won't
start an xterm or anything so might be hard to notice.
Seems a bit curious to start a window manager remotedly to an already
running X server though. Perhaps what you're really looking for is xdm.
In that case you need to edit /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess (remove first # on
the "any host can get a login window" line). Then you simply start it
as root and run X -query machost on the client machine.
Or perhaps you just want to run X apps remotedly (such as xterm), in
that case just set DISPLAY as above and run them.
