Rich,
My apologies for a somewhat unhelpful post. A short explanation follows.
To install X11SDK for Mac OS X Panther choose to do a custom install
of the OS and select the appropriate package. The FAQ on the ADC site
tells you this much.
If as in my case the OS was preinstalled and developer tools were not
included as part of that install you have a couple of options.
1. Reinstall the OS choosing a custom install.
2. Find the appropriate '.pkg' file on the install disks and install
the SDK.
Option 2 sounds simple enough except that in my case I do not have
regular Panther install disks but a set of 'System Restore' disks which
contain the same kind of thing but in a slightly different arrangement.
Specifically disk 2 contains a directory, '.images' which in turn
contains 'DevTools.dmg' which contains the necessary packages. Thus
doing a grep for '*.pkg' on the contents of my disks was getting me
nowhere.
Mark.

Hi,
I wonder, can you be more specific? Maybe it could help others if you
shared your solution with the whole list...

Hi Rich,
/usr/X11R6/include/X11 does exist but contains a single directory
named 'bitmaps' and not the header files that I would hope to find
there.

Are you saying you don't have a directory called
/usr/X11R6/include/X11?

Hello,
I have recently installed X11 for Mac OS X, downloading from:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/x11/download
I now have the X11 libraries and other useful stuff like xterms
but appear not to have obtained any of the header files needed to
compile X11 apps. I have managed to locate a file which goes by
the name of X11SDKFor MacOSX.pkg which I believe to contain the
headers I require but attempts to install this fail with a
message saying that newer software already exists on my computer.
Please help!
