This is the little script I wrote to execute the "ssh -X" command:
(!)[/Users/kennethklein]# cat startperf
#!/bin/bash
export DISPLAY=:0
echo $DISPLAY
ssh -X email@hidden "xset fp+ tcp/irisnim.uky.edu:7100; xmperf"
This is what I see when I execute the script in my Terminal window:
(!)[/Users/kennethklein]# startperf
:0

Using irisnim as local host
Using font 4: "lucidasans-18"

resource denied)
Major opcode of failed request: 28 (X_GrabButton)
Serial number of failed request: 384
Current serial number in output stream: 482

I get the exact same thing in an xterm.
sigh

I have xmperf working on a suse 9.1 Linux instance with:
ssh -X email@hiddenss "xset fp+ tcp/font.server.address:7100;
xmperf"
but this command still fails on my iMac.
I wish I could get it to work with OS X.
Do you execute the "ssh -X" from within an XTerm on your Mac? And if
you execute it from Terminal, do you first do an "export DISPLAY=:0"
(supposing that your shell is bash)?
