If I remember right, you can create symlinks to the hidden
directories and
they will show up in Finder, e.g.
/hidden/usr --> /usr
First, Mac Finder hides all the Unix directories. You can force
Finder
to take you to /usr but you have to use one of the menu
The Go To Folder... menu item or the shift-command-g shortcut then
add the path to the folder. Once a hidden root level folder is
displayed in a Finder window this way, all the sub-folders and
hierarchy are visible and can be browsed. No need to edit root files
or purchase additional software. Path Finder has fine features, but
this one is already available in Finder.
