I have written a little apple script which I keep in the doc.
tell application "X11"
activate
end tell
do shell script "export DISPLAY=:0 ; cd $HOME; /usr/X11R6/bin/xterm
-title callisto -j -ls -sb -sl 1000 &"

How do I set the x terminal to always give me a login shell?
Thanks to people like Martin Costabel, I have this line in my .xinitrc:
xterm -ls -sb &
-ls makes xterm a login shell; -sb gives a scrolling bar.
Best regards,
Axel
