Hi,
I'm running Apple's X11. Here are commands and results that I'm
getting:
echo $DISPLAY
:0.0
xterm &
... [launches xterm]
xterm -display :0.0
Bus error
Do you know what this might be about?
One possibly relevent bit of information is that I've been trying to
get xauth to work and failing. I have a linux box, I've done:
linux box:
xauth nextract linux.xauth :0.0
macosx box:
xauth nextract macosx.xauth :0.0
linux box:
scp linux:linux.xauth .
xauth nmerge linux.xauth
macosx box:
scp macosx:macosx.xauth .
xauth nmerge macosx.xauth
but the result I get then is:
linux box:
xterm -display macosx:0.0
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: macosx:0.0
You using standard X11 protocol here. Those ports
are closed by default, on the Mac.
So, perhaps something is screweyt in my xauth information.
Do you have any ideas on how I can use xauth?
You're better off using ssh, see the X11 Users archive or FAQ.
