Dear X11-users,
hi. I just installed an ATI Radeon 9200 card in my Cube so that I could
drive a 23" Apple Cinema Display.
Whoa, full stop. How did you do this? Will an ATI 9200 fit in the
Cube case? Can you point me to some instructions someplace? I would
*love* to bring my Cube some new life.
The card drives the display quite
nicely. But, I cannot get X11 to work properly in rootless mode.
It won't display any application. This includes the failure of an
xterm to come up. In full-screen mode, it works fine.
I have a hard time believing this is due to the graphics card. Did you
upgrade any software at the same time you did the card?
Do you see any messages in the console or system logs when you try to
start an xterm or something?
Alternately, does Apple's X11 use a different DISPLAY when you're
rooted vs fullscreen? I'm just WAGing here, but maybe you need to set
display to :0.1 instead of :0.0 or something.
Thanks,
-Patrick
