There is a console window in Applications->Utilities. I think you
could open Console.app from a command line if you wished.

Anyone know how to open a console window (as one might under
Solaris) so as to view realtime messages from the system? I am
running mwm under Xquartz/OS X 10.4.7. When I run <xconsole &>
from an xterm as a regular user, an xconsole window opens with the
error message: "Couldn't open console." When I run the command as
root, I get the command line error messages:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: no protocol specified
Error: Can't open display: :0.0
When I put the call in my ~/.xinitrc file, an xconsole window opens
with the "Couldn't open console" message but the root window
(~./.Xdefaults settings) is hosed.
My $TERM environmental value in both Apple Terminal and X is
TERM=xterm-color (color does work in X).
Where am I screwing up?
