Hello, Bill:
Thanks for the response about my X11 font question.
Actually, I had no problem getting xterm fixed. I was
really hoping to find a fix for bluefish (web editor).
All its program fonts are tiny. The area where text is
edited can be adjusted within the program but the
menus and sidebar text are microscopic. This appears
to be the case with other programs as well. Although,
Open Office and Gimp seem fine. The other web editor I
tried - Quanta - exhibited the same issues.
Normally, this part (menus and sidebar text) is handled by the gtk
theme, that you can customize.
To do this:
create if it does not already exist a .gtkrc-2.0 file in your home
directory, as is (launch Terminal.app first):
pico ~/.gtkrc-2.0
Then in the window which appears type (for example):
gtk-font-name : "Bistream Vera Sans 10"
or any other font name you want with the desired font size (Lucida
Grande 16 if you want).
Then save the file and quit pico with:
Ctrl-O return Ctrl-X
Launch bluefish and enjoy.
Note that some gtk applications want .gtkrc.mine to be customized,
other .gtkrc-2.0. You may duplicate the contents of one in the other
to get the same fonts or any other settings in all gtk applications.
There are some examples of theme customization in the bluefish
documentation, available online or to download here:
