I was trying to trouble shoot a problem, and the only clue I had was the following in the console.log:
AUDIT: Wed Oct 11 16:19:44 2006: 18975 X11: client 19 rejected from IP 124.92.39.51
I ran the X11 server by hand, looking for a way to make it more verbose, but all there is is -audit 4, which resulted in almost no additional information.
We finally guessed at the right answer, which was having to turn -ac on, disabling authentication. My question is, shouldn't the X server have an option to be more chatty? XFree86 has the -verbose flag, I believe, why is this disabled in X11.app?
BTW, the exact thing I was doing was tunneling X through netcat. I can vaguely see why X11 might object, but I want to do it anyhow, without leaving myself wide wide open with -ac. Any ideas? Thanks.
