Hi Valerie,
I think I have found the problem. I am using Java GUI components to contain the VTK Rendering windows. Once I rewrote a vtkPolyData viewer using only the vtk widget set the problem disappeared. I guess its some quirk that only appears when mixing widgets between different toolkits on the Mac.
That may explain your problems as well. I wonder if there is some pattern to follow when mixing other GUI Widget Sets/toolkits to avoid this problem?
I wonder if anyone else on the two lists I have cc'd have any experience in avoiding these rendering issues?
Cheers
Alex

Hi,
I don't have the answer to your problem but I am also having problems when I run
on a mac or display on a mac but run remotely. I don't have problems when I run
on the mac but display on linux. I only have the problems when I use gtkglext
with gtk and vtk. I don't have these problems when I use a regular
vtkRenderWindow. Are you using gtkglext by any chance?
