Hi,
Hi,
I'm Auria, the current maintainer of the Wilber-Loves-Apple project
(we do mac packages of GIMP). I'm posting here on the behalf of a
user who posted on our forums. You can view the full thread here :
http://gimper.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2401
In short, the user is unable to open GIMP because XQuartz complains
that "xterm Xt error: Can't open display: 0.0". Since I have little
idea what this is all about, I am forwarding this to you in hope
someone here will know more.
Is he using Leopard? If so the problem is that somewhere in his
startup files (~.profile, ~.bash.rc, .xinit, etc) is a line defining
DISPLAY=0.0
In Leopard DISPLAY is assigned a value by the system (it will look
something like DISPLAY=/tmp/launch-2wHaV3/:0)
He can check the current value of DISPLAY by typing env in an Apple
terminal window. If this is his problem just remove the offending
DISPLAY definition and restart.
thanks you, right on the spot :) His exact quote :
"As william write in x11 mailing list, i ve a file where the value
display is fixed to 0.0
it's for a lyx appllication, i create a environnement.plist in my
profile and fix display value to 0.0
Thank you to take time, and now gimp works "
