Title: .xinitrc support on leopard?
I’m running 10.5.2 and I’m trying to modify the keyboard mapping in order to use familiar Mac key combinations as shortcuts to interact with X11 based applications. (basically, switch command & control keys around). I’ve seen instructions on the internet on how to do this with xmodmap. If I manually execute xmodmap while x11 is running then it seems to work okay. I’d like this to occur automatically, however. I’m not well versed in X11 but from what I understand, ~/.xinitrc is supposed to be invoked on X11 startup at some point so that I can enter in startup commands applicable for the whole session. In my experience with Leopard, if .xinitrc exists and is non-empty, I can’t seem to get X11 to work at all, not matter what I put in .xinitrc (even simple echo statements, comments, or whitespace). Can someone suggest to me how to proceed?
