After a google search I see that this is a known problem. I still
haven't found anything about contextual menus though. If anyone knows
about some workarounds I'd love to try them out.

Hi there! I just installed Xquartz on my MacBook running 10.5.2.
Unfortunately I'm having a variety of issues with OpenOffice now. I
was unable to double-click the OpenOffice app to open it. I had to
drill into the package and start 'soffice'. I've also noticed that
there is no contextual clicking that works in OoO either. I didn't
have these issues with Apple's X11. Can anyone provide me with some
pointers before I decide to switch back to Apple's?
