Setting the default gtk-font-name helps not. I've already tested it yesterday.
I will re-setup my X11 as described by http://homepage.mac.com/sao1/X11/index.html#fifteen, hoping
this will fix it.

days ago about fonts in gtk+ applications. The recommendation was to
create the right ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file describing the default font. My
recommendation was to have one line in this file:
gtk-font-name = "geneva 12"
