I've filed the report (and just got told by someone else that they are also seeing it). It turns out that it's actually a much narrower problem, though: it is specifically *dialogs* that open on their original Space. Ordinary non-dialog windows behave as expected. (Try it with the "New command..." dialog in Terminal.app.)
