Hi,
I'm running the latest version of everything, including X11 2.2.1. In my regular office at work (Texas Instruments in Tucson) I have a Linux box and a Mac laptop (which I travel with). When in my in my office, I use my Mac to remote log into the linux box and I run all my CAD applications on that linux box and xdisplay everything back on my Mac. It's been working great for ages. I've just gone on a business trip and am in another Texas Instruments site in Manchester, NH - here I have full access to all of our internal sites, and I can also connect to a running VNC session on my linux box in Tucson.
>From Manchester I can remote log into my linux box, but I can NOT display any windows back to my Mac.
The usual way I do this in Tucson (and it all works) is:
In my Mac's .bashrc:
xhost + my_linux_box_network_name
rlogin -l my_user_id my_linux_box_network_name
In my Linux box .cshrc:
setenv DISPLAY my_linux_box_network_name:0
However in Manchester nothing I try to run (e.g. nedit) will connect to my display.
I've also tried:
ssh -Y my_user_id@my_linux_box_network_name
and I get the same error - Can't open display.
I'm kind of stuck here - none of the IT guys want to deal with a Mac problem :-(.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mick
