Many of the maintainers, including me, have invested a lot of time
and effort getting ready for a smooth transition to 10.6 (and to 64-
bit), and have been using the assumption that X11 2.4.0 or greater
would be available to 10.6 users.
... and you know what they say about assumptions.
Probably would have been better to actually ask what was going to
happen, rather than just guess...
