Hi,
Since the security update 2009-001 I don't get my X11 back to work.
Maybe I am overseeing something quite simple, but here is what
happened (part of endlessly repeating Console log attached):
I had a fine running and up-to-date MacOS on my PB G4 (PPC) with a
fine running X11 2.3.1 from the usual sourceforge site. Then I
installed apples security-update 2009-001 via System Update
successfully, then (after reboot) I installed X11 2.3.2.1 without
previously deinstalling or reinstalling X11 2.3.1. From that point on,
my X11 didn't work any more. I downloaded the security update from the
apple site again (for Leopard, there is just one and no distinction
between Intel and PPC updates), reinstalled it successfully,
rebooted, and then I tried X11 2.3.4.0_alpha2.dmg, according its
installer "successfully", but the same problems appeared. I then did a
permission repair, which came up with a lot of stuff in x11 man3-
directories but since the files read rw-rw-r-- instead of rw-r--r-- it
doesn't seem important to me. Then I went back through reinstalling
sec.-update, rebooting, and installing X11 2.3.2.1 again, everything
successfully according to the dialogs, and here I am right now.
I dont care much if or if not I run the very latest version of X11 as
long as it works, but I think with sec-update2009-001 I need at least
X11 2.3.2.1, don't I? Maybe I would need a very clean deinstall of
X11, but how ?!?
Thanks!
Joerg

The latest security update replaces parts of X11.
Does the file at http://static.macosforge.org/xquartz/downloads/X11-2.4.0_alpha2.dmg
contain the security fixes? I reinstalled X11-2.4.0_alpha2 after
the reboot for the security update. I am now unsure that the X11
reinstall was prudent.
