You're right -- this program does ring the bell.
I can't find the xterm option, though. I see the command line switches and
resources for the visible bell, and if I enable those and hit ^G, I
certainly get a flash. But without those enabled (i.e., how I normally run
xterm), hitting ^G doesn't do anything.
I also don't see any options to control whether xterm beeps audibly upon
receiving ^G. There's -mb/marginBell, but that's not what I'm looking for
at all.
I do have an entry
XTerm*audibleBell: on
in my Xresources file, but I commented that out and reloaded the resources
(just xrdb, no -merge switch), and no change.
