Yeah, it's entirely inside the Apple libfreetype. But for some
reason, I have not been able to reproduce it, and all the reports I've
seen have mentioned fink. This leads me to think that something in
fink is triggering this bug in our freetype. And as mentioned, the
only other person I've been able to contact over this issue mentioned
that the bug was fixed by the referenced libraries.
You need to restart X11.app after installing the library.

Hi, Jeremy.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried this update and it didn't
seem to make any difference. I can confirm that I've had other
fink-related problems, although not all X11 related. Some seem to
be perl related (and I've seen all the stuff about the update
breaking perl), others I can't figure out. There doesn't appear to
be discussion on the fink bug tracker so I don't know how
widespread this is.
You might want to ask on a Fink mailing list. There was one message
mentioning a similar problem, without following up in the
suggestions, though.
Note that in your crash log, there is absolutely nothing Fink-
related, nor any emacs or Xemacs binary. The crash happens
completely inside Apple's X11 and freetype. The only non-Apple
things I can see there are two com.unsanity InputManager packages
that you could try to remove.
