My /usr/X11/bin/mkdirhier is dated Sep 23, 2007 and looking at the man
page indicates it is part of the imake related files. Thus, it likely
came with the installation of OS X 10.5.0 and the X11 that came then.
Anyone that blows away /usr/X11/... prior to installing XQuartz would
have lost all the imake related files (including mkdirhier) as those
have all disappeared from the XQuartz distribution a while back.

I too am using latest MacPorts, XQuartz 2.3.2.1 (xorg-server 1.4.2-

"which" returns the following:
tim@cotopaxi:~$ which mkdirhier
/usr/X11/bin/mkdirhier
tim@cotopaxi:~$
My /usr/X11R6/ is nothing more than a simlink to /usr/X11/.

Well I do have mkdirhier:
Procyon: ~] which mkdirhier
/opt/local/bin/mkdirhier
So I guess this is a MacPorts install script problem.

Subject: Missing mkdirhier
I just installed the latest version of MacPorts and tried to
install xfig. Failure occurred at the very last step, as shown
below. I'm using XQuartz 2.3.2.1 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple31), and
there is no /usr/X11R6/bin/mkdirhier.
Do I need to modify my X11 system in order to use MacPorts? I'm
just experimenting with MacPorts, and I don't want to "mess up" my
X11 installation.
Maybe this posting should go to MacPorts? Whose problem is this
(other than mine)?
Thanks,
Louis
