Hi,
I noticed my Mac (Leopard 10.5.7) doesn't seem to include manual
pages for X
and Xorg. It includes lots of other manual pages for X11 but not
these two.
That's becasue we don't ship Xorg.
Is this normal? I'm talking about Xorg(1) and X(7). I also noticed
XOrgFoundation(7) is missing and probably a few others. In fact
there's no
section 7 under /usr/X11/man. I found this is the manpath for X11
under
/etc/manpaths.d/X11.
They should be there. I think they may be installed with XCode.
I have (with the latest release, not 10.5.7's):
$ ls /usr/X11/share/man/man7/X*
/usr/X11/share/man/man7/X.7.gz /usr/X11/share/man/man7/XOrgFoundation.
7.gz /usr/X11/share/man/man7/XProjectTeam.7.gz /usr/X11/share/man/
man7/Xprint.7.gz
I visited http://www.opensource.apple.com/release/mac-os-x-1057/
where you
can download open source code used in Leopard 10.5.7 and I found a
package
called X11misc-6 that seems to include X(7).
I don't know how to proceed in order to get this manuals. Should I
just copy
them from some source? I have an old FreeBSD box which includes
these two
manuals... should I just copy them to my mac?
I'd just install our latest release from http://xquartz.macosforge.org
