Hi --
I'm using the X11 that comes with 10.5.7 on an iBook/G4. I run
xchat from macports. For some time, that is, for many 10.[45].x
versions and macports versions, cutting text from xchat makes a
mess: when I double click, the text shifts over to the right, not
cleanly (leaves pixel debris), and it shifts even more when I drag
the mouse. Its concept of where on the screen the characters to be
cut/copy'd are seems to change too, but not as much as is displayed.
I've seen no-one else complain about this. Maybe I wasn't looking
in the right place, or maybe I'm the only one.
I'm not sure where to start looking for whatever is causing this so
I can either find, and develop my own fix.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I should approach this?
I saw this a while back when I was using xchat on Linux. The problem
was with my font choice. When I selected text, the fonts changed from
normal to bold, and the font I had chosed was wider when bold than
when normal...
Try changing your font choice to see if that makes a difference.
