I have a copy of the X11.app which is resident in my Dock and is assigned to Space 2. All of my other applications are using the default of Space 1.
Please note that I did not delete and recreate the copy of the X11 app after upgrading to OS X 10.5.7 and X11 2.3.3.2. The original copy was created in accordance with information in this mailing list and assistance from Jeremy H.
This X11 app creates an SSH connection to a remote system and allows its window manager to manage the session (the remote window manager displays a CDE).
Once I navigate away from Space 2 where the remote window manager output is defined to be displayed, if I then attempt to navigate back by simply clicking on the already active X11 app icon in the dock, I witness different types of behavior:
1. On rare occassions, I return to Space 2 and the toolbar, active windows, and
background of the desktop being remotely managed are all correctly displayed.
2. The toolbar and the most recently active window are displayed and if I click around
the desktop where I knew other icons and/or windows to reside they will then appear.
3. None of the windows, icons, or even the toolbar will be displayed and the background
will not have the correct color or texture. All I will see is the very grainy grey
background.
If I switch the Space from 1 to 2 via the drop down on the menu (or the combination key sequences), I see the active space value change on the menu bar, however, I still see the background and desktop Icons for Space 1 even though any displayed windows in Space 1 now disappear. If I then click on the X11 app icon in the dock, the remotely managed desktop is now displayed with the correct background and the toolbar(s), icon(s), and windows all present.
This last two step method always seems to result in the X11 app remotely managed desktop being correctly displayed in Space 2.
Please let me know if I may provide any additional details regarding this issue.
Best Regards,
Ted
