Hi, I am running 10.5.7 with MATLAB R 2008B.
When I start MATLAB using StartMatlab, it opens X11, tries to open
for a few seconds, then dies, leaving X11 running.
My guess is that StartMatlib is broken and does some bad assumptions
about $DISPLAY
Killing X11 immediately spawns another X11, and MATLAB starts up
immediately.
Yeah, I dunno... MATLAB is obviously doing something wrong.
The line about "cannot connect to X11 server, DISPLAY not set" shows
that there is something wrong. What is the output of "echo $DISPLAY"
when you run it in Terminal.app?
Attached is my system.log; and I have marked where I kill the X11
process<system.log>. I suspect the problem is a configuration
problem. I have installed the latest X11 from XQuartz page.
I have looked at my .bash_profile, and I don't set any DISPLAY
variable.
Also, starting MATLAB from Terminal works fine.
Yeah, my guess is your $DISPLAY is correct, and your StartMatlab thing
is broken.
Best regards,
Ustun
