It worked before the 10.5.7 Mac OS X update. At that time, I was
using an older version of X11 from several months back. I'm sorry
but I don't remember the exact version number but I'm sure it
predated 2.3.2. I decided to update as much as I could at that
time, including X11 to 2.3.3.2 but nothing was fixed.
Since my first email, I took a closer look at the 10.5.7 update and
noticed that it included an update for the nvidia drivers. Most
likely, this update is the source of the problem but it's not clear
to me whether the incompatibility is coming from X11, GTK, or VTK.
If you have insights on that, or know how to revert the nvidia
driver on a Mac, it would be a great help. I'm on a Mac book pro
with an nvidia GeForce 8600M GT.
Well my insights are mostly limited to X11. 2.3.3.2 had a MAJOR
update to our local libGL. I wonder if the older libGL was working,
so that's why I asked about the 2.3.2 version of X11. If you could
please install that version over your existing install and test it,
I'd appreciate the feedback.
The other thing to note is that you said it doesn't work with AIGLX
(which is what you get when you connect to the server from a remote
client). I have fixed up AIGLX a tad this past week, but I don't yet
have a release for you to try unless you're willing to install
MacPorts on your system (the xorg-server-devel port has these changes).
Did the AIGLX use case work prior to 10.5.7, or is this remote
execution something you only tried during your debugging? I'd be
curious if the AIGLX worked in 2.3.2 as well.
Thanks,
Jeremy
