No, the shadow style should match SL.
I've not tried XQuartz on Lion, but the pack-in Lion X11 doesn't match SL's shadows. See attached image of a Lion X11 window with shadow, and SL Terminal window with shadow. Both selected. The SL ones are clearly larger and fainter, as if the window were standing higher off the desktop.
, so is 3 operating systems behind. At least the window decoration was recently updated to better match the rest of the OS
by "recently", I'm guessing you mean slightly over 2 years ago when SL was released...
See above. I see no obvious changes in the shadow behaviour of quartz-wm since Tiger. If there are changes, they're too subtle for my eye. What I can say is that the quartz-wm (for pack in at least), does not match SL or Lion (or Leopard IIRC, I don't have a Leopard machine around to check it out). , but still. What does it take to de-ancient this piece of code?
It will never happen. You have maybe 5% of a developer working on XQuartz and multiple groups of engineers working on AppKit, CoreGraphics, etc...
Hence my opening statement about "impotent rage".
